About
Welcome to Detroit Michigan. No longer one of the biggest cities in the country, but certainly, one of the most influential. This is the land were the available natural resources, brain power, and money came together to develop a technology that would change the global landscape. Engineers and businessmen put there minds together and in a decade Detroit exploded like a super nova. Behemoth factories scaling acres of once sprawling farm land were constructed of brick & beam and eventually steel reinforced concrete by world recognized industrial architects. Unlike cities like New York, or Chicago, the single family home was the main source of shelter for Detroiters, as sprawling neighborhoods expanded out from the “wagon spoked” downtown core. Every working American now had a house, a yard, and a garage. The “American Dream” was born. My mission is to provide passengers with an unique and educational experience. With Detroit Jalopies, I offer an opportunity to explore the city from a mostly original, Detroit-built classic automobile, a 1954 Plymouth Taxi. Here is a chance to explore, learn, and see first hand the places remaining from the heyday of the city’s boom. From stately auto-barren manors, to Motown Studios, to sprawling automobile factories, to the oldest bars and speakeasies remaining - discover it here.
